Our Story
When my nephew Tyler was fourteen years old back in 2017, he and I finally got fed up with fruit flies. They would appear from nowhere on the delicious fruit we grow in our gardens, yards, and farms here in the northwest. Pears, apples, grapes… they seemed to love them as much as we did. I guess we are selfish and don’t like sharing our fruit, so we began researching solutions to combat the invading hordes. After much testing (my wife really loved having buckets of fruit flies in our garage for over a year) Plunk was born. The next thing we knew, instead of selling cutting boards at the local farmers’ market, Tyler was selling Plunk.
Plunk is made from natural ingredients, produced in the USA, and is harmless to kids and pets. We use an olive oil based surfactant to break the surface tension of our liquid attractant, which causes fruit flies to sink to the bottom.
Please remember that Plunk is only good at getting rid of fruit flies. We don’t catch fungus gnats, drain flies, scorpions, elephants, or ostriches. We just do fruit flies, but if you have them, we’ll Plunk them. If you bought Plunk for catching something else, let us know and we will provide a full refund.
Since Tyler is older now, we can’t really call it a kid owned business anymore, but we are both still kids at heart and love making and selling Plunk.
